92. Dust in the Wind by Kansas

I close my eyes
Only for a moment,
and the moment’s gone
All my dreams
Pass before my eyes, a curiosity
Dust in the wind
All they are is dust in the wind
Same old song
Just a drop of water in an endless sea
All we do
Crumbles to the ground, though we refuse to see
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
Oh
Now, don’t hang on
Nothin’ lasts forever but the earth and sky
It slips away
And all your money won’t another minute buy
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
(All we are is dust in the wind)
Dust in the wind
(Everything is dust in the wind)
Everything is dust in the wind
The wind

“You’ve Got to Stand for Something”

This song would have been part of Jesus’ call to individual responsibility and personal integrity, a call he made frequently. Furthermore, it is a statement of freedom, for rather than having one’s ‘strings pulled’ by any number of others to whom one gives authority, even if unconsciously, one is able to make choices from one’s ‘highest self’, i.e. from one’s connection to the divine.

An open, virtual door to the world
