A useful means to help a new minister to settle in and get to know people, and one from which I have benefited in previous settlements, is to have a serious of morning/afternoon teas, hosted by the pastoral carers for the people who they visit.  In addition to the opportunity for people to get to know the minister and  to contribute their ideas for the life of the church, the primary aim iss to have fun.

This also serves to introduce the experience of belonging to a fellowship group, the importance of which is discussed elsewhere on this website.
