“Let It Be” by The Beatles (click here to listen)
When I find myself in times of trouble,
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be
And in my hour of darkness
she is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be
Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be
And when the broken hearted people
living in the world agree
There will be an answer, let it be
For though they may be parted,
there is still a chance that they will see
There will be an answer, let it be
Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be
There will be an answer, let it be
Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be
Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be
And when the night is cloudy
there is still a light that shines on me
Shine until tomorrow, let it be
I wake up to the sound of music,
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be
Let it be, let it be, let it be, yeah, let it be
There will be an answer, let it be
Let it be, let it be, let it be, yeah, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be

COMMENTS ON PREVIOUS SELECTION – “You Can’t Be a Beacon”
One of the constants of Jesus’ teaching was a call to personal responsibility. He told the people, “No one after lighting a lamp puts it in a cellar or under a bushel, but on a stand, that those who enter may see the light;” (Lk. 11:13) the point being, the kind of faith that leads one into the Kingdom is something that is caught from others, a bit like a virus. God’s plan is thus dependent upon those who have found ‘the light’ sharing it so that others (like Hank Williams’ “I Saw the Light” – No. 18) may also see. We are called to be the beacon that may save others.
