I’m only human I’m just a man
Help me to believe in what I could be
and all that I am
Show me the stairway
that I have to climb
Lord, for my sake teach me to take
one day at a time
One day at a time, sweet Lord, that’s all I’m asking from you
Give me the strength to do everyday what I have to do
Yesterday’s gone, my God, and tomorrow may never be mine
So for my sake teach me to take
one day at a time
Do you remember when you walked among men
Well, Father, you know if you’re looking below
it’s worse now than then
Pushing and shoving crowding my mind
So for my sake teach me to take
one day at a time
One day at a time, sweet Lord, that’s all I’m asking from you
Give me the strength to do everyday what I have to do
Yesterday’s gone, my God, and tomorrow may never be mine
Yes just for my sake teach me to take one day at a time

COMMENTS ON PREVIOUS SELECTION – “I Can See Clearly Now”
The reward of faith and prayer is not necessarily a bright sunny day, for sometimes the bad times seem to be endless. Rather, the result of faith is the ability to ‘see’ beyond the dark times with the knowledge that they are transient and that the sun will shine again. This becomes the seed of hope that allows one to disperse the ‘dark clouds’ which had been ‘blinding’ one’s eyes to new possibilities. This ‘Seeing’ becomes believing.
