55. I Believe sung by Perry Como

“I Believe” sung by Perry Como (click here to listen)

I believe
For every drop of rain that falls
A flower grows
I believe
That somewhere in the darkest night
A candle blows
I believe
For everyone who goes astray
Someone will come to show the way
I believe
I believe

I believe
Above a storm the smallest prayer
Will still be heard
I believe
That someone in the great somewhere
Hears every word
Every time I hear a new born baby cry
Or touch a leaf
Or see the sky
Then I know why I believe

Every time I hear a new born baby cry
Or touch a leaf
Or see the sky
Then I know why I believe
I believe

COMMENTS ON PREVIOUS SELECTION
       “Sing a Song of Freedom”

According to New Testament scholar, Ernst Kasemann, Jesus means freedom, so a song about freedom is an obvious one for Jesus’ repertoire.  My comments on song no.41, “That’s Freedom,” apply here as well, and if you haven’t already, you should look at “Freedom” under “Words of the Word” on this website.
